Waterproofing your boots.

Leather boots are somewhat water-resistant, but the most important thing is to keep them well-waxed throughout the winter.

Suede boots are not recommended to use in very wet weather but waterproofing sprays can help keep them dry for the odd amount of rain.

If you boots do get wet, dry them naturally and never too close to a heat source as this can dry out the leather and affect the glues that are used in some of the construction.

For extra wet weather, we recommend Dubbin types of waxes and shoe balms with beeswax. Don’t forget to wax the side of the leather soles. Although these are painted when we finish the boots, this protection often gets worn off with use, so it is really important to apply your shoe wax to these leather edges too to keep them water-resistant and make the leather soles last longer.
