• Yes. Portugal has a long heritage of shoemaking and is world-renowned for its leather products, from saddles to the ancestors of cowboy boots. Paired with the traditional techniques of Goodyear welt, this makes the country one of the top-quality manufacturers in the world.

    We have chosen to produce our shoes with artisans and small family-run factories. All our products are ethically produced, with natural materials, and we guarantee fair wages and support family businesses.

    Working with artisans and smaller factories comes with its challenges and sometimes imperfections, but we like that and it is helping to keep a craftsmanship heritage alive while putting Portuguese traditional techniques and knowledge on the map!

  • Our products are handmade in Portugal by independent artisans and small family-run factories.

    We chose these makers as we like the imperfection of the finish. This is not a standardized industrial product, so it might present some minor irregularities in the stitching, slight leather blemishes, and marks. What others would call defects, we call personality!

    Handcrafted products are also environmentally friendly, as they take less energy and natural resources to produce than items made on a mass-production scale.

  • As mentioned above, these are handmade goods so mistakes can happen and they don't always come out perfect. Some types of irregularities such as colour imperfections, leather texture/roughness, and a couple of asymmetries are OK as they are part of our product’s uniqueness.

    Sometimes though, imperfections are unfortunate, and you might not like them. Feel free to let us know as soon as you receive your boots. Describe the flaw with pictures so we can assess it, and work out the exchange or refund procedures immediately.

    Don’t worry, as we always aim to meet our quality standards so we’ll remake your boots and send them back to you, at no extra cost, if we confirm your point when the item is sent back.

  • If we agree that the boots are faulty, we will repair or replace them free of charge, or give you a price reduction/full refund. As a general rule, you will only be able to ask for a partial or full refund when it’s not possible to repair or replace the goods. You must inform us within 2 months of discovering a fault.

  • If you don’t receive your order in 30 days, or in the agreed period, you must get in touch with us first, giving an additional, reasonable time limit to deliver it.

    If we don’t deliver within the extended deadline, you are entitled to end the contract and be reimbursed as soon as possible.

  • Yes, you can, so long as it is within 30 days of receiving your items.

    To be eligible for a return for a refund, your item must be in original, unworn condition and also in its original box. Items returned that are not in original condition will not be eligible for an exchange or full refund. The customer is responsible to pay for postage costs for the return of the items to us.

    In the case of a return from outside of the European Union, we will provide you with shipping labels to make sure the return is imported back to us in the correct manner and will inform you of the cost of the return.

    Please note, once an order has been shipped out and sent returned, we only refund the item’s value and not the shipping cost.

    Customised orders are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

  • If you made a mistake when you placed your order, please contact us immediately so we can amend your order or resolve the issue. We do not accept cancellations on custom or made-to-order items.

  • We have a sizing chart if you are unsure of international conversions. Please see this and more info about sizing on our “Tips&Tricks” page. But if you are not sure about the best size for you, please get in touch and we will be able to advise you.

  • Although our models are adapted to modern feet, as they are based on antique models they can come up snug, so you may need to go up a size, depending on the boots you are interested in.

    Please read the description of each style, as we try to advise best from our customers’ feedback.

    The fit and correct size of a shoe also depends on how you like your shoes to feel: some people like a lot of extra room, while others prefer a tight fit.

    Most of our styles come in two widths: regular and wide. Please note our wide fit is still elegant and not noticeable to the naked eye. We recommend a wide fit if you are worried about shoes feeling tight or like to wear thick socks. We consider a wide fit when your foot measurement is above 10 cm across the widest part of your foot.

    Other factors, such as if you have a high arch, bunions, an old injury, or use orthopedic insoles are also worth considering, and it might be a good idea to go up in size to accommodate these issues.

    Need more help or unsure about which size fits you best in our shoes? Get in touch and we will advise you, according to your needs and measurements.

  • From the moment you order your custom-made shoes or boots, it usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to be ready to send to you. We hold a small amount of stock so check this first, as these can dispatch in 2 to 5 working days. Depending on production, and if we don’t have any urgent film orders, we can - at times - rush through some private customers’ orders to reduce the lead time. Please let us know if you need shorter timings when you place your order.

    Film industry clients have different manufacturing times due to the nature of the business, which is usually 2 weeks lead time.

    Since these are handmade goods, depending on our various suppliers, production timings can sometimes get delayed.

  • There are no minimum orders for film industry professionals. Our prices vary according to your needs. To get a quote please check our “For Film&TV” section. You can also get in touch throughout our “Contacts” formulary. Just select the option ‘professional orders’ and send us your message.

    For Retail, If you are interested in stocking our boots in your shop, please get in touch at the same “Contacts” formulary but choose the ´partnerships´ option instead.

  • The boots we produce are made to the highest quality we can achieve, and the Goodyear welted shoes we offer can have their soles endlessly replaced, making the footwear a very long-lasting and sustainable purchase. With good care, our boots can last a lifetime.

    The leathers we use are all from high-quality manufacturers that have to comply with modern environmental guidelines, which is very important to us. Although we do not yet offer a vegan range, our products are made of natural materials with no plastic. By working on a made-to-order basis, with very small runs of stock, we treat raw materials such as leather, as a luxury product, that needs to be used with respect to avoid waste. We also save all the offcuts for jewelry and other crafts so that we try to work to a zero waste objective.

  • We make very small runs of stock, as we prefer to work on a personal basis, with each pair being made for an individual, to avoid dead stock and overproduction.

    You will notice that if the item you are interested in is out of stock, we offer the same model at the same price as a “Made to order” item. This means exactly that: they are made for you, when you order.

    We also can make “Custom orders”. This option allows you to personalise the models we make to suit your requirements. These include small differences that combined make a unique, perfectly fitting boot to your own specification. Please note, a customised order is built after a conversation between the customer and our team, and we will advise what is possible and what is not. Custom orders are non-refundable and non-returnable, as they are made to your requirements, which makes them hard to then sell to someone else, should they be returned. Everyone is unique in size and taste!

    There’s a lot of research, sampling and expertise in the development of each of our models, which is why we only recommend certain types of customisation.

    If you have a model in mind that does not appear on our shop catalog, you can get in touch to talk to us about your ideas, as we welcome suggestions, but please note we might not be able to produce everything you imagine!

  • Please note we request full measures for “Custom Orders” and reserve the right to the final decision when it comes to going ahead with requests that are different from the standards we make. All customised shoes are non-refundable and non-returnable.

    Let us know your preferences and we will send you a quote. When “Custom Orders” are available, our estimated lead times are 6-8 weeks.

    As a price guide for a moderate customisation, we apply an extra 10% to 15% on top of the base price of the same or similar model. This option allows you to choose up to 3 changes to the original design.

    On a highly customised request we apply an extra 20% to 30% on top of the base price. This option gives you the freedom to make as many design changes possible, to create your own unique shoe - as long as our production team confirms it is feasible.

    Below you’ll find some examples of most wanted customisation options, to make your shoes unique or extra comfy:

    • European half sizes, which help get the perfect fit;

    • Adapting the patterns to ankle/calf measurements;

    • Curved or straight heel when possible, according to the model;

    • Hooks or eyelets colours (brass, gunmetal and gold);

    • Zips, when possible;

    • Leather combinations other than the standard;

    • Special made-to-measure metal aglet flat waxed laces;

    • With or without brogue detailing, when possible;

    • Different soles are also available: plain leather, leather with anti-slip protection, commando rubber soles and more.

  • For items in stock, it takes us 2 to 5 days to prepare your order, in which time we confirm with the client the right size was chosen. • No, they are not. Customers from outside the European Union are responsible for customs duties and taxes according to the rules that apply in their countries.

    There are no customs fees for UK customers, as per the preferential trade agreement reached between the UK and the EU, which means that in most cases customs duties will not be applied to goods that meet all the necessary requirements of the “rules of origin”.

    However, VAT will be charged. This means that you might have to pay the outstanding TAX charged by the UK authorities once receiving your boots, which is currently at 20%.

    US customers should be exempt from customs duties when purchasing our boots, but might be taxed according to their State’s law. This means that you might have to pay the outstanding TAX charged by the authorities of your State.

  • We take care of filling in all the paperwork necessary for the export of our product to you.

    In the case you wish to return an item from outside of the European Union, we will provide you with shipping labels to make sure the merchandise is imported back to us in the correct manner.
