My boots have marks on the leather...

Our products are handmade in Portugal by independent artisans and small family-run factories. We chose these makers as we like the imperfection of the finish. This is not a standardised industrialised product, and so it might present some minor irregularities in the stitching, slight leather blemishes and marks.

What others would call defects, we call personality!

The lasting process and some of the tools used can also at times leave small marks on the leather, but this is common in handmade products, as it shows the making process, and when working with natural materials this can happen.

We inspect each pair before sending it out to our customers, so if you do notice any irregularities, we probably have seen them and accepted them within our quality standards.

If your boots have different shades or little discoloured spots, this could be due to the natural gradations in the hides we use. We choose leathers that have an irregular vintage finish. This is an intentional design decision, so our boots have a more antique/vintage look. Although we select the more regular and least wrinkled sections of leather for the most featured parts of the boots, it is normal that these natural hides have changes in texture and slight nuances in the colour, and that this will appear on the boots.

We also try to work to reduce waste, so all the parts of the hides are used. The edges of the hides that are more wrinkled and irregular in colour are used for the tongues or more discreet parts.
Sometimes though, imperfections are unfortunate, and you might not like them. Feel free to let us know as soon as you receive your boots. Describe the issue with pictures so we can assess it, and work out the exchange or refund procedures immediately.

Don’t worry as we aim to always meet our quality standards so we’ll remake your boots and send them back to you, at no extra cost, if we confirm your point when the item is sent back.
