How to stretch your boots.

You can stretch your boots or shoes slightly by wearing them around the house with thick socks, and moisturizing the leather as described in the previous tip “How to break in your boots”.

The next best way to stretch out your boots, if they are too tight on the width, is to get your hands on a shoe stretcher. Again, a combination of moisturizing cream and leaving in the shoe stretchers overnight should increase the width.

If you don’t have access to shoe stretchers, you can pack them with newspaper (dry, never wet) so you create a strong shape inside where you want them wider.

With caution, you can also try this same method and run a hairdryer over them to heat the leather slightly. As the leather gets warm push the newspaper in further so you create a strong shape inside where you want them wider. After you’re done let them cool down with the paper inside and let them rest overnight. Try on again to see if it has made a difference. You can repeat it a number of times as it will stretch a little more.

Careful not to burn the leather or the stitching - keep the hairdryer on medium and not the hottest setting and make sure you don’t get too close to the leather! If needed moisturize the leather again after this process and the heat of the hairdryer can dry the leather a little.
